ROSELLE, Illinois (May 16, 2012)—LanzaTech, a producer of low-carbon fuels and chemicals from waste gases, has for the second year in a row been named a TiE50 winner, as a leader in entrepreneurship, innovation, and management excellence.
The TiE50 awards will be presented at TiEcon 2012, the world’s largest conference of entrepreneurs, May 18 – 19th, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California. The 50 winners of 2012 were chosen from more than 2,100 promising companies screened by TiE’s expert committee.
“We are honored to once again be recognized by TiE,” said Dr. Jennifer Holmgren, chief executive officer at LanzaTech. “Our revolutionary carbon capture technology challenges our current perception of waste and provides a novel route to sustainable fuels and chemicals. LanzaTech has the potential to be a key player in enabling energy democratization- that is, offering solutions for affordable and accessible energy for all.”
LanzaTech uses a proprietary fermentation process to convert gases (including industrial waste gases and gas derived from any biomass source) into fuels and chemicals. A full description of the technology, as well as a video, is available here: http://www.lanzatech.com/content/lanzatech-process.
