LanzaTech Voted Hottest Company in Bioenergy

Voted #1 in Biofuels Digest Hot 50 Companies in Bioenergy and #5 in Hot 30 Companies in Renewable Chemicals

Chicago, Illinois (November 11, 2014) Biofuels Digest announced last night that LanzaTech was voted the No.1 hottest company in Bioenergy and the No. 5 hottest company in Renewable Chemicals and Materials, in the annual Biofuels Digest Hot Rankings. LanzaTech is one of five companies to make the top 10 in both lists. GranBio (#2), Algenol (#3), Novozymes (#4), Solazyme (#5), DuPont (#6), POET-DSM (#7), Beta Renewables (#8), DSM (#9) and Abengoa Bioenergy (#10) rounded out the top 10 in the Hot 50.

The annual rankings, which recognize innovation and achievement in fuels and integrated biorefinery development, are based 50 percent on votes from an invited panel of distinguished international selectors, and 50 percent on votes from subscribers of The Digest. Overall, more than 100,000 individual company ratings were received from panelists and voters.
“We are absolutely thrilled with these results!” said Jennifer Holmgren, CEO of LanzaTech. “The Digest Rankings, one of the most cited ranking sets for any industry, are a powerful way to highlight companies who are challenging the status quo and working to meet our global carbon challenge. Utilization of atmospheric carbon as a feedstock for fuels and chemicals production will enable a circular carbon economy. It is an honor to be recognized by the Digest voters and panelists for our work in this sector.”

“This year, the voters went global in picking companies founded in New Zealand, Brazil, the US, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain in the top 10,” said Digest editor and publisher Jim Lane. “Companies that are building commercial-scale biorefineries were hot this year, as readers and selectors rewarded the hard yards of building success at scale.”
The Miami, FL-based Digest serves more than 600,000 unique readers and followers via the web, newsletters and social media in every UN-recognized country.
