Job Summary:


Assist with projects associated with lab and field operations applying a broad knowledge of engineering principles and industry specific practice. Complete mechanical design and specifications of discrete equipment, assemblies and systems. Work with cross functional operations related assignments pursuant to general direction on key objectives. Prepare technical specifications, engineering drawings and project documents for extensive supply chain management EH&S, procurement, strategic sourcing, logistics, inventory management and operational implementations. Troubleshoot existing operational methodologies and practices. Formulate solutions through engineering and process designs for laboratory research, field testing, and large scale implementation of LanzaTech IP, KME, and engineering services. Interact with clients, partners, suppliers and contractors as a technical point of contact. Provide cross team assistance and support as required. Foster safety, operational and engineering prowess in the field for LanzaTech’s global interests. Participate in HAZOP and safety analysis studies, driving LanzaTech safety standards and practices. Contribute to LanzaTech’s growth through discussions and analysis of relevant literature. Assist with projects associated with LanzaTech facilities, including its R&D lab, applying a broad knowledge of engineering principles, industry specific practice and LanzaTech technology. Troubleshoot existing internal operational equipment, methodologies and practices. Develop SOPs for preventative maintenance tasks and co-ordinate their implementation. Assist in developing solutions for LanzaTech laboratory equipment through engineering and knowledge of LanzaTech technology including gas fermentation.  Assist with deployment, installation and servicing of mechanical equipment, including LanzaTech’s mobile gas fermentation testing station (GTS) at domestic and international customer sites. Provide operational support to science teams, including setting up, commissioning, and operating LanzaTech’s gas fermentation process at partner sites. Operate LanzaTech’s mobile gas fermentation testing station (GTS) in the field at customer locations. Assist in the development and formalization of EHS documentation and systems. Procure equipment for LanzaTech projects.


Required Minimum Position Qualifications:


Master’s degree in Engineering and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or closely related occupation and     demonstrated experience with hands-on EPC (Engineering, procurement and construction) for lab-scale projects; process commissioning, such as Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), punchlists, and functionality tests; strategic sourcing and establishing business relationships with external parties such as consultants and vendors; conducting process Hazard Analysis (PHA) such as HAZOPs; conducting Management of Change (MOC) for new or existing processes; OSHA lab standards and Process Safety Management (PSM) standards; Root Cause Analysis and Incident Investigation of site emergencies; IFC and NFPA codes for toxic and flammable substances; safety devices for hazardous gas installations, which must include: gas detection, relief valves, excess flow valves, and regulators; pressure test techniques including familiarity with compression fittings; preventive maintenance of lab critical equipment including: Reverse Osmosis unit, Autoclave, and glove boxes; assisting users and operators to understand safety policies and operating procedures through delivering presentations and hands-on demonstration; drafting SOPs; PLC Logic Development: input/outputs and control narratives; Gas fermentation technology; independently managing lab R&D projects, including participation in experimental design; laboratory analytical tools and techniques; media and stock preparation; general process engineering such as P&ID, mass balances, and bill of materials; and predictive maintenance techniques.  15-20% international and domestic travel is required.
